I teach Portuguese as a foreign or second language to those who want to speak with their family, friends, co-workers, etc. The goal is always to be able to keep a good conversation and foster understanding, so it is fundamental to try to speak in Portuguese from day one.
It’s really hard to understand some Portuguese words, especially because we tend to join two or more words when we say them. They sound like a single word! This awareness is important so that you can recognize the individual words when you read them or when you hear them.
You should get an understanding of how letters and words are articulated during the process of speaking, and observe them in isolation as well as combined in sentences. Then, by trying to reproduce them in your oral utterances repeatedly, you will gradually manage to write these words correctly.
Grammar is the less attractive part, but it’s the base of any language. With Portuguese Quest you will learn grammar in an interactive and diversified way, where each rule is followed by an exercise.
We are a small country, but with a lot to do and see. On Portuguese Quest we are going to talk about the geography, gastronomy, literature, art and history of this beautiful country, “”a small garden planted by the sea” (Tomás Ribeiro).
You can be anywhere in the world and still stay connected. Online classes save you time – no commuting, no traffic and it takes less than five minutes to join the lesson. As for interaction, don’t worry! You’ll engage with me and your classmates just like you would be in a face-to-face class. We use a variety of learning materials, all adapted for online use – and you can even download them before each lesson.
Private lessons are ideal if you want the teacher’s full attention and a learning plan adapted to your level and learning pace. The content remains structured and pedagogically consistent, but it is always connected to your personal goals and real-life context – whether that means focusing more on workplace situations, everyday conversation, or preparing for a specific challenge. Each lesson lasts 60 minutes and ou also benefit from flexible scheduling and a space where you can ask freely, feel more confident and progress at your own rhythm. Although levels are structured in 15-lesson sub levels, you can choose to pay monthly or pay the full 15-lesson course in advance – whichever suits you best.
The price for private one-to-one lessons is 30€ per hour.
A two-to-one class provides the perfect balance between personalised attention and the benefits of learning in a small group. You’ll receive focused support from the teacher, while also enjoying the opportunity to interact with a peer, practice conversation and engage in collaborative learning. This dynamic helps improve speaking skills, listening comprehension and offers a supportive environment where both students can motivate each other. Given its collaborative nature, these classes are structured in a course of 15 lessons, with each course comprising a total of 15 hours of instruction, allowing you to reach a new sub level in your learning.
The cost for the entire 15-lesson course is 262,50€ per student.
Group lessons provide a dynamic learning environment where you can learn not only from the teacher, but also from the classmates’s questions and doubts. If you enjoy interacting with others during lessons, this is the perfect option for you. The groups are kept small, ensuring that your individual learning is not compromised. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to participate, ask questions and engage with others. Each class last 75 minutes and due to the collaborative nature of group learning, the lessons are organised in a course of 15 lessons. At the end of the course, you’ll have reached a new sub level. It’s important that all students in the group are at the same level and the groups are formed only if there is a minimum of 5 students.
The cost for the entire 15-lesson course is 120€ per student.
